Imke van der Aar: Where to begin...

Imke van der Aar: Where to begin...

After a period of 10 years putting badminton on the first place. It's time to close this book and open a new one...

Badminton has given me the greatest opportunities in life, but also gave me the toughest lessons in one way or another.

But right now I have to be really honest to myself and listen to my heart. Moving to Denmark was a great experience and definitely felt like I learned a lot here.

But beside learning a lot on court, I also learned a lot about myself. One of the things is that I'm a very big family person and that homesick is tough as f*ck... I'm very looking forward to moving back to Holland today.

I will still play Orleans Masters next week and Dutch International in a few weeks. Which I will go on court with a big smile and maybe a tear in the end, but that's all okay.

It's been a tough decision to make, but I truly believe that you have to follow your intuition and that you are happy with the life you are living (we can't turn back time after all).

I really want to thank you all for the great support all those years.

Talk to you guys soon again.

Big kisses from me
