I am 24 years and I live and practice in Arnhem at the National Sports Center Papendal. When not competing on the international tournament circuit, I play national competition matches in the French 'Le Top 12' premier league with my team at Chambly Bad in Paris. I was Dutch national champion women's singles in 2015 and 2016.
My motivation in being a badminton player is to fully develop my game and become as good as I can be by working on improving in all aspects of the sports.
What I like about badminton is its explosivity and multifacetedness. Just being fit and healthy isn't enough. To achieve good results, you need to be mentally resilient, technically skilled, tactically insightful, and so on. When all of that comes together, badminton is an amazing convergence of athletics.
Seeing a skillful and versatile player on court who is able to take all of the above and turn it into beautiful, effective badminton... That truly inspires me.
My family and friends are proud of my efforts and results and support me wherever and whenever they can. Their honest engagement - albeit mostly from a distance - in my biggest passion in life helps me in continuing this journey of being a professional athlete.
