Dutch shuttler Imke van der Aar suddenly dropped from national team

What the F*ck... After a few years with setbacks, injuries, mental struggles and corona. I was very happy with the last few months. I was the fittest version of myself, I made progress on court, won some good matches and secured a few medals.

But then THAT MOMENT, you wish you never have to experience as an athlete: EXIT.

This week I got the news from the coaching staff, that they don't believe in my development anymore. And that I will no longer be a member of the national team. I definitely didn't see this one coming, and I'm still shocked / heartbroken / frustrated and definitely feel very powerless at the moment.

It's just so surreal that your entire world, can just been taken away in one moment.

For now, I don't know what my next move exactly will be. First, I need a little bit time to let this sink in. And consider my options.
